VA disability compensation is ordinarily paid after the month it covers. In a Veterans Benefits Administration payment notice, VA explains that recurring benefits for a month are normally paid on the first business day of the next month, moving earlier when the first falls on a weekend or federal holiday.

When is my next regular VA disability payment?
If your benefit month is January, the normal regular deposit date is the first business day of February, not January 1. If that date is a weekend or holiday, the deposit usually moves to the preceding business day. These are routine recurring-payment rules; a first award, retroactive award, adjustment or withheld payment can follow a different schedule.
For instance, December 2026 benefits are expected to deposit December 31, 2026, because New Year's Day 2027 is a holiday. See the 2026 calendar. The December 2027 benefit is expected to post December 30, 2027 because December 31, 2027 is the observed New Year's Day 2028 federal holiday; see the 2027 calendar. These are derived dates, not individually guaranteed payments.
USAA VA disability early deposits
USAA describes early direct deposit availability for qualifying payments including government disability payments, subject to its terms and receipt of information from the paying agency. The funds may be available earlier than the regular date, but early availability is not guaranteed. The schedule published by VA is not replaced by an assumed 'USAA payday'.
Read the USAA direct deposit terms and check your bank account for the actual transaction date. Do not rely on a fixed 1- or 2-day early promise for a particular payment.
Navy Federal VA disability early deposits
Navy Federal publishes active-duty and retired military pay posting schedules. Military pay handled by DFAS is not the same benefit as VA disability compensation, and an early deposit feature tied to a military checking product does not automatically establish a VA disability payment schedule for every account. Check the Navy Federal published military posting guidance and your individual account terms.
If you are searching for Navy Federal VA disability pay dates, use the relevant regular VA compensation calendar and your bank account history rather than treating an active-duty schedule as a guaranteed VA benefit posting date.
Why might a VA disability payment be missing or late?
- You have a new award. Initial payment timing can differ from recurring monthly payments; VA explains the usual first-payment timing on its official payment-history page.
- The deposit information changed. Confirm your bank account details through official VA services.
- Holiday/weekend timing. Compare the benefit month with its expected regular date, not just the calendar month.
- Your award amount changed. Dependency adjustments, offsets or other award details may change the deposit amount.
- Your bank is still processing. Ask the bank about posting before assuming the payer changed its scheduled date.

Are payment dates and VA disability pay rates the same thing?
No. Payment dates tell you when a recurring benefit should arrive. Compensation rates tell you how much a rating and dependent configuration may qualify for. VA Math determines the combined rating using a separate calculation. Compare rates in the 2026 annual table or 2027 table, then explore combined ratings with the free VA disability calculator.
Frequently asked questions
Are VA disability benefits paid at the start or end of a month?
Recurring compensation is generally paid after the benefit month, normally on the first business day of the next month, adjusted earlier for holidays and weekends.
Why is there no January 2027 recurring deposit for January's benefit?
The January 2027 benefit month is expected to be paid February 1, 2027. The prior December 2026 benefit is expected on December 31, 2026.
Are early USAA VA disability deposits guaranteed?
No. Early availability is a bank-dependent possibility, not a guaranteed VA payment date.
Is Navy Federal's military pay calendar the same as the VA disability calendar?
No. Military payroll schedules and disability compensation schedules should not be combined.
